Ok guys, so if you know me, then you already know, that l live in NOLA where I was born and bred.
This past May, I finished my graduate program with a degree in Health Care Managementot this degree.
With that done, I’ve started looking forward to what I want for my professional future and as much as I love NOLA, unfornately, it may not include living in NOLA. As some of ya’ll may know, my dream is move to Cali, but unless I can find a position that does NOT involve the California laboratory personnel licensing (don’t even get me started) that I’ve been having trouble trying to get it or somehow get a chance at a position w/the feds, then I have to think strategically. To that point, if I want to ultimately relocate to Cali and STILL work in the lab, then I need to find work as a Supervisor or entry-level Mgr so that if I try to get licensure again, I can do so with a stronger hand.
Anyway, for the experience to count, it’s gotta be at least 3-5 years of work. So this weekend, I’m gonna start reseraching places other than Cali that I can handle living in as a single Black female for bout 3 years. On my short list are places I’ve already looked into previously or places I’ve already experienced: ATL, DFW, NOLA, DC. In addition, I’d like to start looking at more places.
So what am I looking for?
1) Diversity (don’t have to be pedominantly Black, but at the very least comparable to NOLA or ATL)
2) Good cost of living (I’d be trying to save money for an ultimate move to Cali)
3)Lots of diverse things to do as a single person,
4)oh and I HATE COLD…but for 3 years, I’d like to think I could handle a bit of cold. But I’d prefer soft winters rather than hard!
So…let me know where do you live now. Do you love it or do you want to leave? If you could live anywhere and I’d love to hear if you feel where you live is a good place to start for what I have in mind?
