At first, I was thinking I’d break up the post on Day 2 (Sunday, October 1) into two parts, but we took so many pictures on this day that putting them all in one post would be overkill, so instead I ended up with 3 blog posts for Day 2. …cause I love you guys…here’s PART DEUX of Day 2 in D.C.
The first half of day 2, we visited the Museum of the American Indian, then we visited Air & Space and I swear that literally took like 3 hour of our day and we STILL had like 4 more museums and the monuments we wanted to go to. After 3 hours though, it was lunch time, and the Starbucks breakfast we had when we started the day was already metabolized! Rather than go walking to some random place for lunch, we headed across the street from the Air & Space museum to the food trucks lined up along the street. This was actually the first time I’d ever actually eaten food from a food truck…don’t know why just never have before…
Anyhoo, after lunch it was time for another museum. The next museums on the “agenda” was the Natural History museum, but my nephew Tre has always had an interest in art, so instead we went to the National Gallery of Art (East Building) which was off the mall, but within walking distance from the Air & Space. So off we went, and even though it wasn’t on the agenda, it was cool to go, cause my nephew was actually very interested and in his element. We only stayed there about 1 hours, but it was a good palate cleanser after lunch and all the walking we had already done. He explored it all, we sat and my sister (his mom) explored it with him. After the NGA and after stopping for some soft serve ice cream on the mall (I don’t know if I was just parched from all the walking so far, but that was THE BEST DAMN ICE CREAM cone I’d EVER HAD…EVER!!!), we headed for the African Art Museum.

The AAM was NOT on the itinerary but my sister Robin, decided that she REALLY had to see it…so we did and it was another thing not on the agenda, but it was another awesome museum with some great exhibits, plus the lady at the information desk had some good advice for us to follow when we were gonna be exploring the African-American History & Culture museum on Day 3 (“Start from the top floor and work your way down.) ”
After the AAM, we finally got back on the agenda, and headed to the last two museums of the day: Natural History & American History. We were going to skip the Natural History museum, but we stopped anyway, we wanted to see the Hope Diamond 
Also, of course, see as much of the life-size animal figures as possible. We spent about 1 hour at NMNH then headed up the street to the final museum of the day, the American History Museum.
We only have about 2 hours before the museum closed, so we focused the majority of our attention to a few major exhibits we all really wanted to see: The First Ladies exhibit, a little bit of the President’s museum, and the small space dedicated to showcasing a little bit of what we can expect when we see the AAHCM the next day.
The First Ladies exhibit was way cool. Of course ya’ll know, it was mostly ALLLLL about #FoeverFLOTUS Michelle Obama for us, but it was really cool to see the other older historical FLOTUS’ finery (Hilary’s dark blue inaugural gown, Eleanor Roosevelt and Martha Washington).
We also saw a bit of the Presidents exhibit. We mostly focused on Obama and Clinton, but I couldn’t resist one pic that included Chump, just to show that GODAWFUL official picture Chump took…smh…every POTUS sing Bush the Elder looking all comforting and shit…Chump looking like an old man needing a shit!!!
Anyhoo, the last part of the NAHM we saw before the museum closed was the NAAHCM gallery. It was just a glimpse of what we’d see on a bigger scale when we visited the Blacksonian the next day. On display at the NAHM was a few musical elements like James Brown suit and piano, En Vogue’s costumes from a video, and the Soul Train scramble board. The biggest full exhibit was one on Ella Fitzgerald including one of her singing costumes that was REALLY cool
Alright, that’s is for the Museum portions of Day 2. My next post will be the final (3rd post) on Day 2 which will be on the 3 monuments that we were able to see at the end of the day final thoughts about our busiest day of the entire trip.
Wooh…did you enjoy the sequel to first post about Day 2? Was it “better than the original”? Naw probably NOT…the sequel rarely is (although, Captain America: Winter Soldier was >>>>>>>> Captain America:The First Avenger)
