So this past weekend, I joined Weight Watchers.
I’ve tried WW before when I lived in Texas. I joined at work with another friend and attended meetings during my lunch break. I quit it after maybe 2 months, for a couple of reason. First, between the monthly fee, the WW swag and the snacks for sale, it was becoming too much. Secondly and probably more importantly, I really just wasn’t feeling the meetings. I hated the story sharing and the feeling of failure when I didn’t follow the plan and I especially hated the “weigh in” portion, where you stepped on that scale and the leader or the leader’s assistant would record the result. But primarily, I really just wasn’t following the plan. I either completely ignored the points plan, or I just forgot, but whatever the case, I was paying for WW and NOT using it. So basically, it was a combination of no motivation, exceeding funds, and just not really feeling the whole “12-step meeting” feel of it all.
So what makes this time different? Well, this time, I’ve gone for the meeting-less plan. The online program has essentially everything that you’d need to understand and follow the Points Plus program. Since the plan is online only, it’s cheaper and I don’t have to pay for meetings. Less meetings, also means, I won’t be enticed with all that WW swag that the meeting leaders, must get paid on commission for.
Finally…am I more motivation this time around than before? Well, as I may have mentioned on this space or elsewhere in 15 months, I will be turning 40 years old. I’d like to enter my 40s healthier and hopefully happier. Also too, I’d like to celebrate my 40th birthday with a big vacation to someplace I’ve always wanted to go…AUSTRALIA! So I’d say “HELL YEAH” I’m motivated!
So…this past weekend, I set up my Wii. I have a number of dance video games and workout games that I bought some years ago. I also downloaded the YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime apps for Wii. I downloaded some workout YouTube videos and soon I plan to buy more workout DVDs as soon as I get more money.
Today I started tracking my food and points. Every Monday (starting today) I’ll be tracking my weight loss or gain. Once I get my sleep pattern changed I’ll be able to incorporate a daily workout into my routine. I feel motivated and ready to begin this 15 month journey to health.
So let’s do this!
